I’ve been thinking lately about what makes a successful job search. As a professional resume writer in a large market like Phoenix, I see lots of folks that simply get in their own way. They won’t apply for a job that’s too far away, or outside of their comfort zone, or maybe they just fail to cultivate a quality network.
I think it all goes back to sales. Are you ready to sell yourself? Do you believe in your product? The resume is part of your packaging, and only YOU can effectively market yourself. Employers are only going to hire you if you believe in yourself….I can write the best resume ever, but if you don’t buy into yourself, it won’t do a bit of good. An applicant needs to be able to sit through an interview and answer the questions showing a depth of character that matches the resume and creates a great impression.
Believe in your product and it will sell itself. Your network will expand and pretty soon, people will be coming to you for opportunities instead of the other way around.
Travel outside of your comfort zone, believe in yourself, and start applying!
